Already thinking about the weekend?! Well, we have a great spot for you! We’re taking you deep into Brooklyn: to Gowanus! Gowa-what? Yes, it’s definitely a NY neighborhood and yes, maybe not your favorite yet, but it’s definitely one of our 2015 chéri discoveries. So get your bike or your subway card and go check it out.
Four and Twenty Blackbirds is a coffee shop with a family story. Sisters Melissa and Emily opened this coffee and pie shop in 2010. Melissa came back to Brooklyn after traveling the world, while her sister, Emily, was becoming an artist in Brooklyn (Gowanus Studio Space). Their mother and the other sisters are running another restaurant in Brooklyn for which their grandmother used to bake all the pies.
Homemade, Local and Natural.
Gowanus has a lot to offer, and Four & Twenty Blackbirds is definitely worth the ride. You’ll find a communal wood table and lot of light, good coffee and incredibly tasty pies. The pie menu changes with the seasons, so right now you can find matcha custard, salted caramel apple and chocolate julep (among many other choices). We’re thinking the only thing missing is the snow outside of the window – just kidding, this weather is amazing. 😀
All the ingredients are picked locally, and whenever they can, they also go for organic. Now that you’re drooling, make plans to go to this place this weekend with your best book or the friend you need to catch up with for hours. And make sure to eat several pies!
These pies are cooked and served for you at 439 3rd avenue in Brooklyn and 7 days a week. Take the F, G or R train to get there. Or enjoy a bike ride and continue with a Prospect Park Tour!
