When the Skyline Plays in a Movie

Like the streeteasy.com advertising campaign in the subway, we also found our perfect New York formula for summer!

Rooftop + BYOB + A Good Movie – Too many people = Perfect Summer Activity

As New Yorkers, summer is all about enjoying being outside as much as we can. Choose an alternative option to having a drink on an overcrowded rooftop with your friends.

Rooftop Cinema Club is offering a  new experience of screening movies outdoor AND on a rooftop. Selections feature a great collection of cult movies and are now available in two locations. After launching screenings at the Yotel, Midtown, last year, the Club has now expanded to East Williamsburg, in Office Ops building, a creative & event space.

It is a bit more pricey than your average AMC ticket, but unlike retro drive-ins, the Rooftop Cinema Club wants to be rather high-end. Each participant gets wireless noise-cancelling headphones, can seat down in comfy deck chairs…and try to focus on the movie rather than on the sunset on the skyline, or the sparkling city in the background.

Yotel location offers a Moet & Chandon mini bottle and popcorn with your entrance ticket.

Bushwick location is BYOB (yay!), popcorn is available onsite, and you can even get food delivered on the roof – you’ll have to get back downstairs though (mini-yay!). The rooftop is open for you starting at 5 pm, even if movies are starting at 8 pm.

The club was created in London in 2011 and now exists also in LA and Chicago. Find out more about the lineup. Drop them a comment on their Instagram account if you want to see a specific movie. They take it into account for their next lineup.

Screening at Yotel (Times Sq) are $33 – Screenings at Office Ops (Lorimer) are $19 – Stay also tuned for the Underground Film Club, created by the same guys but only available in London so far. Tickets
