Indian Summer in Greenport

Did you ever notice that Long Island and the Hamptons look like a whale? There is one side of the tail with Montauk that everyone knows but on the other side, there is the North Fork with Greenport.

We’re aware September is here, but it does not necessarily mean that summer is over. Actually, it’s the best time to plan a getaway from NYC: fewer people and cooler weather but still beautiful.

Greenport is a very cute town, at the very end side of Long Island, with only two main streets but a lot of wonderful spots. So here are our few of our favorites to spend the weekend there.

First, for your morning fix, go right away to Aldo’s. We looove their coffee (and the scone to go with too 😉 ). If you are lucky and an early bird you will have Aldo himself making your coffee. You can enjoy your caffeine shot in their backyard or sit on a bench at the Marina.

For lunch or dinner, there are several options, but we always like casual places for a chill weekend. So if you are like us, try Crabby Jerry’s in the harbor. Of course, the menu is full of seafood, and service is at the bar. Seat at one of their family tables and enjoy the nice view on Shelter Island.

And if you prefer beer than wine, you should try Greenport Harbor Brewing Company. Built in 2008 in an old firehouse, right next door to the old jail of the city. They have a great selection of beers in tasting and sometimes there is also an art exhibition in the bar area.

See you there next weekend Chéris!
